Hospital lacks specialists<\/p>\n
KENDARI, Southeast Sulawesi: People suffering from heart,
\nneurological, urinary and pathology-related problems here often
\nhave to journey to the South Sulawesi provincial capital of
\nUjungpandang or Jakarta for the most up-to-date medical
\ntreatment.<\/p>\n
Head of the provincial health office Takahasi Rahmani told
\nAntara on Monday that the local hospital for years lacked doctors
\nspecialized in the four fields.<\/p>\n
\"We have repeatedly asked the government to send those kinds
\nof specialists. We have also encouraged public doctors to obtain
\nspecialist diplomas, but only a few have succeeded,\" Takahasi
\nsaid.<\/p>\n
The hospital employs 12 specialists, including internists,
\ngynecologists, dentists and pediatricians. The province's other
\nstate-owned hospitals have an average three specialists each,
\naccording to Takahasi.<\/p>\n
The provincial administration has increased its annual budget
\nallotted for the hospital to Rp 350 million (around US$40,500) in
\nthis fiscal year in a bid to have its rating improved. Many
\npeople have complained about poor services provided by the
\nhospital, Antara reported.<\/p>",
