Many circles of society have staged demonstrations against
\nincreases in fuel prices, electricity tariffs and telephone
\nrates, apparently with the same goal of rejecting the hikes.<\/p>\n
As a matter of fact, however, each sector of society has an
\nulterior motive, such as tax facilities for entrepreneurs,
\npolitical bargaining power for legislators, and so forth. Only
\nstudents, workers and other lower income groups are consistent in
\nthe purpose of their struggle.<\/p>\n
The public has also questioned the role of professionals, who
\nused to criticize government policies through the mass media, but
\nare now perhaps thoroughly enjoying their positions on high.<\/p>\n
Only a few suggestions have come from public officials, such
\nas the speaker of the People's Consultative Assembly, who called
\nfor a postponement or a cancellation of the price rises.<\/p>\n
The problem is much bigger than just politicians campaigning
\nto secure votes for the forthcoming general elections. It is
\nnecessary for future national leaders to learn more in order to
\navoid making decisions at will.<\/p>\n
