Hope for Marzuki Darusman<\/p>\n

Warta Kota showed a picture in its March 8 edition of Attorney
\nGeneral Marzuki Darusman sitting on the floor among students
\nassociated with the Student Action Front for Reform and Democracy
\n(FAMRED) in one the rooms of his office. The students were
\nlaunching a demonstration, but were willing to hold a dialogue.
\nFAMRED urged Marzuki to be more serious investigating cases of
\ncollusion, corruption and nepotism.<\/p>\n
When asked about former president Soeharto he said that on
\nthat day Soeharto would go to the Cipto Mangunkusumo general
\nhospital to be checked by the hospital's medical team.<\/p>\n
This did not happen. It is not known which side did not allow
\nSoeharto to go to the hospital. According to this paper
\nSoeharto's family and medical team stated they had not received a
\nrequest from the Attorney General's office.<\/p>\n
The afternoon of the same day television showed us Soeharto
\nand President Abdurrahman Wahid (Gus Dur) at Soeharto's home.
\nViewers could see Soeharto standing on the verandah of his house
\nat Jalan Cendana welcoming Gus Dur who was paying a personal
\nvisit.<\/p>\n
In actual fact, the community has no great expectations. They
\nonly hope that their right to obtain correct information is not
\nhindered by any side. Especially if the information is related to
\ncases of collusion, corruption and nepotism.<\/p>\n
I hope that the Attorney General and the Cabinet ministers
\nwill imitate Gus Dur's work methods. Paying a visit to former
\npresident Soeharto as a younger man to an older one demonstrates
\na polite way of conducting politics as was the practice in this
\ncountry in the 1950s.<\/p>\n
