Hoodlums arrested over bus exortion<\/p>\n
INDRAMAYU, West Java: Police here arrested at least nine
\nhoodlums who often extorted bus drivers using West Java's
\nnorthern coastal roads near Indramayu.<\/p>\n
\"Their action has caused resentment among bus drivers and has
\nresulted in widespread traffic jams,\" Indramayu Police Chief Adj.
\nSr. Comr. Eko Hadi Sutejo said on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
The alleged extortionists, who operated on Jalan Karang Ampel
\nin Jatibarang, had extorted bus drivers for between Rp 2,000 and
\nRp 5,000 each, he said.<\/p>\n
The robbers made a killing on Java's northern coastal roads,
\nwhere between 10,000 and 45,000 buses pass every day.<\/p>\n
\"If drivers refuse to give them money, our buses are attacked
\nwith nails,\" Santoso, a bus driver who drove the Jakarta-
\nSurakarta route told The Jakarta Post. --JP<\/p>",
