The Indonesian Ministry of Home Affairs, through Deputy Minister Bima Arya Sugiarto, plans to inspect and evaluate local governments that fail to implement the work-from-home (WFH) policy for civil servants (ASN), using the Local Government Information System (SIPD) to monitor compliance. This national directive, mandating one WFH day per week on Fridays, aims to foster efficient and effective ASN work culture transformation, despite resistance from some regional leaders like the Governor of South Kalimantan. The ministry intends to engage in communication with non-compliant areas to ensure adherence, highlighting the central government's push for uniform policy execution across regions.

JAKARTA - Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Bima Arya Sugiarto stated
that his office will conduct checks and evaluations on local governments
(pemda) that do not implement work from home (WFH) for civil servants
(ASN). Bima said the checks could be carried out through the Local
Government Information System (SIPD) of the Ministry of Home Affairs.
“We will check and evaluate which regions have not adjusted. We can
check through SIPD to what extent efficiency measures have been
implemented,” Bima said when contacted on Thursday (9/6/2026). Bima
emphasised that this policy applies nationally, so every local
government must implement it. This is because some regions have
signalled rejection of the WFH policy for ASN in their areas. Among them
is the Governor of South Kalimantan (Kalsel), Muhidin, who firmly
rejects the WFH policy. Then, the Regent of Dompu, Bambang Firdaus, who
stated he would review the WFH policy. According to Bima, the Ministry
of Home Affairs will communicate with several such regions. “We will
communicate; there are some regions that initially differed but after we
communicated, they could understand and then adjust,” he said. As is
known, the government has implemented a WFH policy for ASN every Friday.
“Adjustment of official duties by location with a WFH work pattern for
one working day per week, namely every Friday,” said Tito, reading out
points from the SE, as per a written statement received by Kompas.com on
Wednesday (1/4/2026). As stipulated in the SE, the implementation of WFH
is intended to encourage the achievement of ASN regional work culture
transformation that is effective and efficient.
",
