        "content": "<p>\u201cI hope that entering a campus like this can broaden the horizons of\nvillage heads so they become more innovative and creative, understand\nthe basics of management, and possess the ability to lead as formal\nleaders.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) is\ncollaborating with the University of Indonesia (UI) to run the Village\nHeads Enter Campus programme, aimed at strengthening village heads\u2019\ncapacity in governance, leadership and village development.<\/p>\n<p>Minister of Home Affairs Muhammad Tito Karnavian made the remarks\nwhile opening the second intake of the programme at the Purnomo Hall of\nthe University of Indonesia in Depok, West Java, on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>Tito expressed hope that the programme would broaden village heads\u2019\nhorizons, particularly in management, leadership, innovation and\nentrepreneurship, so they can manage villages\u2019 potential optimally.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI hope that entering a campus like this can open the minds of\nvillage heads so they become more innovative and creative, understand\nthe basics of management, and possess the ability to lead as formal\nleaders,\u201d he said in a written statement.<\/p>\n<p>According to Tito, various government policies, such as Law Number 6\nof 2014 on Villages, the establishment of a ministry handling village\naffairs, and the disbursement of the Village Fund, have given rise to\nmany advanced and self-reliant villages.<\/p>\n<p>Nevertheless, Tito cautioned that challenges remain in village\ngovernance, including village heads becoming entangled in legal problems\ndue to weak administrative and financial management.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cProblem number one is the issue of integrity,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Yet, Tito continued, village heads must understand government\nadministration, drafting of the village budget (APBDes), management of\nstate finances, and organisational leadership.<\/p>\n<p>For this reason, he stressed that village heads need to continuously\nimprove their capacity, integrity and managerial capability so they can\nrun village government professionally while also driving local economic\ngrowth.<\/p>\n<p>The event was attended by, among others, the University of\nIndonesia\u2019s Vice-Rector for Research, Innovation, Students and Alumni\nHamdi Muluk, members of the UI academic community, Director-General of\nVillage Governance at the Ministry of Home Affairs La Ode Ahmad Pidana\nBolombo, Director-General of Regional Administration Development at the\nMinistry of Home Affairs Safrizal ZA, and a number of relevant\nofficials.<\/p>",
