The\nprogramme will stimulate various business sectors, from banking and\nproperty developers to building material shops, while simultaneously\ncreating jobs for the community. \u201cIf this housing issue can be handled\nproperly and the problems resolved, besides addressing poverty and\npeople\u2019s difficulties, it will create a rotating economic ecosystem,\u201d\nTito said in a written statement on Monday (22\/6\/2026). He made the\nremarks while attending a Collaborative Programme for Housing Financing\nand People\u2019s Economic Empowerment event at the Papua Governor\u2019s Office\nin Jayapura City on Monday (22\/6). Tito explained that the housing issue\nin Indonesia remains a challenge due to the gap between housing needs\nand the availability of decent homes. Therefore, President Prabowo\nSubianto has tasked the Ministry of Housing and Settlement Areas to\naccelerate the resolution of this problem. According to Tito, this\neffort requires the support of local governments, including those in\nEastern Indonesia. Regional support will accelerate development while\nimproving public welfare. Moreover, if the programme relies solely on\nthe Regional Budget, its reach will be more limited. Consequently, Tito\ninvited local governments to support the housing programme by\naccelerating and simplifying licensing, among other measures by\noptimising Public Service Malls. Regions are also encouraged to waive\nBuilding Approval retributions and Land and Building Rights Acquisition\nFees for low-income communities. \u201cSo that developers are motivated to\nbuild housing.
