        "content": "<p>Jakarta (ANTARA) - Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian has ensured\nthat all residents affected by the disaster in West Sumatra have left\nevacuation tents for alternative housing as of 24 March 2026.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAlhamdulillah, according to our data, we have cross-checked through\nthe regents and also on the ground, there are no longer any in tents as\nof 24 March,\u201d said Tito at the Bina Graha Building, Presidential Palace\nComplex, Jakarta, on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Tito explained that the Task Force for Accelerating Post-Disaster\nRehabilitation and Reconstruction in Sumatra previously conducted\nin-depth verification of data on affected residents.<\/p>\n<p>Based on data as of 12 March 2026, there were 18,630 households or\naround 105,447 people in evacuation sites in West Sumatra.<\/p>\n<p>The former National Police Chief also clarified circulating rumours\nregarding the number of displaced persons that had been said to reach\n2.1 million people.<\/p>\n<p>He emphasised that active coordination with local governments and\nfield checks were carried out to ensure aid was targeted appropriately\nand residents quickly received decent housing.<\/p>\n<p>In efforts to accelerate economic recovery and housing, the central\ngovernment has rolled out various financial aid schemes for affected\nfamilies. These schemes include Rp15 million for minor damage repairs\nand Rp30 million for moderate damage. For permanent housing construction\naid, it will be Rp60 million.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, the government is providing livelihood guarantees in the\nform of Rp15,000 per person per day for side dishes, allocated for a\nthree-month period.<\/p>\n<p>For long-term handling, Tito added that the master plan for\nrehabilitation and reconstruction in the Sumatra region requires\nsignificant funding.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn the Task Force, there is already a master plan for development in\nthese three provinces over three years, as far as I know, the\npreliminary estimate is around Rp130 trillion,\u201d revealed Tito.<\/p>\n<p>He emphasised that the construction of People\u2019s Schools is part of\nPresident Prabowo Subianto\u2019s priority programme to build superior human\nresources.<\/p>\n<p>Qodari explained that the government plans to expand the target to\n60,000 educational units under this revitalisation scheme. The Ministry\nof Basic and Secondary Education has proposed an additional budget of\nRp89.5 trillion through the 2026 supplementary spending mechanism.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith the continuation of the PHTC School Revitalisation and People\u2019s\nSchool Construction Phase II, it shows there is no reduction in the\neducation budget.
