Home Affairs Minister Muhammad Tito Karnavian has expressed\nappreciation for regional governments that have demonstrated the best\nperformance. The appreciation was given through the 2026 Batch II\nRegional Sumatra High-Performing Regional Government Awards.<\/p>\n
The awards, held in Batam City, Riau Islands, on Wednesday (12\/8),\nwere presented to regional governments in six regional areas based on\ntheir performance achievements and innovations in governance. The six\nregions include Sumatra, Kalimantan, Maluku-Nusa Tenggara, Java-Bali,\nSulawesi, and Papua.<\/p>\n
The awards were divided into four categories: Access and Quality of\nHealth Services, Implementation of the 3 Million Houses Programme, Waste\nManagement and a Clean Environment, and Population Access to Education\nServices.<\/p>\n
\u201cEntering the second batch, this second wave, it begins in Sumatra.\nWe are holding it in Batam City,\u201d Tito said in a written statement on\nWednesday (13\/8\/26).<\/p>\n
He said that the awarding was a form of balance in the development of\nregional governments. According to him, in addition to conducting\nsupervision and providing direction, his ministry also needs to give\nawards to regions that have succeeded in showing good performance.<\/p>\n
\u201cBecause so far, we from the Ministry of Home Affairs have been\nconstantly pressing, pressing on inflation, economic growth, and various\nother instructions. This is the balance in the form of rewards for\nhigh-performing regions,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n
He also reminded regions that have not received awards to improve and\nenhance their performance.<\/p>\n
\u201cFor those who have not been fortunate, there is still another round,\nspecifically for Sumatra, there will be one more round. We will convey\nlater what the criteria are for competing, so that colleagues can\nimprove,\u201d he concluded.<\/p>\n
The provincial-level award for Access and Quality of Health Services\nwas won by the Bangka Belitung Islands Province and South Sumatra\nProvince. At the regency level, the award was won by West Bangka\nRegency, Belitung Regency, and Bintan Regency. At the city level, the\naward was won by Pariaman City, Padang Panjang City, and Pangkalpinang\nCity.<\/p>\n
The provincial-level award for Implementation of the 3 Million Houses\nProgramme was won by North Sumatra Province and Jambi Province. At the\nregency level, the award was won by Deli Serdang Regency, Kerinci\nRegency, and Way Kanan Regency. At the city level, the award was won by\nBandar Lampung City, Pekanbaru City, and Batam City.<\/p>\n
The provincial-level award for Waste Management and a Clean\nEnvironment was won by West Sumatra Province and the Riau Islands\nProvince. At the regency level, the award was won by Samosir Regency,\nSouth Lampung Regency, and Bintan Regency. At the city level, the award\nwas won by Sabang City, Padang City, and Jambi City.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the provincial-level award for Population Access to\nEducation Services was won by Aceh Province and Lampung Province. At the\nregency level, it was won by Simeulue Regency, Tanah Datar Regency, and\nNorth Nias Regency. At the city level, it was won by Sawahlunto City,\nSungai Penuh City, and Banda Aceh City.<\/p>\n
Also present were Coordinating Minister for Political and Security\nAffairs Djamari Chaniago, Head of the Government Communication Agency\nMuhammad Qodari, Chairman of Commission II of the Indonesian House of\nRepresentatives Muhammad Rifqinizamy Karsayuda, Deputy Minister of Home\nAffairs Bima Arya Sugiarto, governors and regents\/mayors from across\nSumatra, and other relevant officials.<\/p>\n
Previously, the 2026 Batch I High-Performing Regional Government\nAwards had also been held in six regions.
