        "content": "<p>Deputy Speaker of the People\u2019s Consultative Assembly (MPR RI) Hidayat\nNur Wahid (HNW) has stressed that world peace will not be realised\nwithout independence and justice for all nations. He therefore\nencouraged cross-national and interfaith collaboration to achieve\nsustainable world peace. He made the statement whilst opening the Global\nDialogue Forum in the context of the International Dialogue Day for\nCivilisation, at Nusantara V Building, Parliamentary Complex, Senayan,\nJakarta. The forum carried the theme \u2018Strengthening Faith and Building\nPeace: Aligning Global Civilisations from Indonesia for the World\u2019. HNW\nexpressed appreciation for the organisation of the forum, which he\nconsidered in line with the mandate of the Indonesian constitution,\nparticularly the Preamble to the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of\nIndonesia, which affirms the Indonesian nation\u2019s commitment to\nindependence, lasting peace, and social justice. \u201cThere can be no world\norder and genuine peace if what occurs instead is repression and\ncolonialism. True peace will only exist where there is justice and no\nmore colonialism,\u201d HNW stated. According to him, the forum is important\nbecause it brings together various stakeholders, ranging from\nlegislative and executive elements, religious organisations,\ninternational institutions, to representatives of friendly countries, to\njointly champion humanitarian values and global peace. He emphasised\nthat the Indonesian constitution provides a strong foundation for the\nnation to continue supporting the struggle for independence of nations\nstill under colonialism. \u201cThe desire to bring about world peace is\nactually a direct manifestation of the Indonesian constitution. This\nmandate is enshrined in the Preamble to the 1945 Constitution and is our\nshared responsibility to realise,\u201d he said. Additionally, HNW\nhighlighted the situation in Palestine as one of the greatest challenges\nto achieving world peace. He cited the continuation of conflict and\noccupation of Palestinian territory as an issue requiring serious\nattention from the international community. \u201cIf this forum was born out\nof concern over the continuation of colonialism and attacks on\nPalestine, Gaza, the West Bank, Jerusalem, extending to other regions,\nthen this is a highly relevant step to build solidarity and concrete\naction for peace,\u201d he explained. HNW assessed the role of the United\nNations (UN) as remaining very strategic in championing conflict\nresolution and recognition of Palestinian independence. He noted that\nthrough the UN forum, an increasing number of countries have granted\nrecognition to Palestine as a positive development in international\ndiplomacy. \u201cMore than 153 countries have recognised Palestine as an\nindependent state. This shows that the struggle for Palestinian\nindependence is gaining increasingly broad support from the\ninternational community, meaning the desire to bring peace through\nindependence and away from colonialism is receiving widening support,\u201d\nhe explained. \u201cIndeed, the UN must be more effective, realise its role,\nand not be constrained by the veto power that protects Israel, but let\nnot disappointment with the UN lead to it being displaced by\nestablishing a new institution that might completely displace the\nexistence of Palestine, let alone recognition of Palestine as an\nindependent state,\u201d he continued. Furthermore, HNW stressed the\nimportance of synergy between parliament, government, religious\norganisations, and civil society to strengthen peace diplomacy.\nAccording to him, no single party can work alone in facing the\ncomplexity of today\u2019s global challenges. \u201cThe UN cannot work alone. It\nrequires the collective effort of all parties, including parliament,\ngovernment, religious leaders, civil society organisations, and friendly\nnations to bring about just peace,\u201d he said. HNW also stated that\nIndonesia remains consistent in championing Palestinian Independence\nthrough various international forums, including world parliamentary\nforums, and through diplomacy conducted by the Indonesian government. He\nhoped the forum would produce concrete steps and strengthen global\ncollaboration in realising world peace based on justice, respect for\nstate sovereignty, and the cessation of all forms of colonialism. \u201cMay\nthis forum be a productive one, generating ideas and tangible\ncooperation, and strengthening our shared spirit to bring about a just\nworld peace for all humanity,\u201d he expressed. Meanwhile, Deputy Minister\nof Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia Muhammad Anis Matta\nstressed that the world is currently facing a civilisational transition\nperiod marked by various geopolitical conflicts, a crisis of global\nleadership, and the weakening of international institutions. These\nconditions, Anis said, demand the birth of a new civilisational proposal\ncapable of uniting humanity. He explained that civilisation is built\nupon five main elements: people, land, time, thought, and taste or\nvalues that evolve from generation to generation. \u201cFundamentally, we\ninherit from one civilisation to another. No single civilisation can\nclaim to be the greatest contributor in human history,\u201d Anis said. Anis\nalso highlighted the cycle of the rise and fall of civilisations as an\nunavoidable law of history. In the process of civilisational change,\nconflict often emerges as part of the dynamics towards a new\nequilibrium. \u201cWe need not be surprised when witnessing conflict. It is\nan unavoidable process in the history of human civilisation,\u201d he stated.\nHe also assessed that various conflicts occurring from Eastern Europe to\nthe Middle East are rooted in a systemic crisis encompassing a crisis of\nglobal leadership.<\/p>",
