HK businessmen eye RI<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Hong Kong businessmen in a meeting with Vice
\nPresident Megawati Soekarnoputri in Shang-LA hotel, Hong Kong,
\nThursday said they were interested to invest in Indonesia.<\/p>\n
The Indonesian Consulate General in a press release Friday
\nsaid the businessmen asked the vice president about sectors that
\ncould receive foreign investment.<\/p>\n
Megawati Soekarnoputri and Minister for Investment and State
\nEnterprises Laksamana Sukardi during their visit in Hong Kong met
\nwith a number of local businessmen.<\/p>\n
The Hong Kong businessmen expressed interest to invest in the
\nagricultural sector, particularly sugarcane plantation and in
\nacquisition of hotels under the Indonesian Bank Restructuring
\nAgency (BPPN).<\/p>\n
Among the HK businessmen were Managing director of Shangri-La
\nAsia Ltd. Chye KH Kuok and chairman of Herry Holding Ltd. Kuok K
\nChen. They expressed interest to expand investment in the
\nagricultural sector.<\/p>\n
These companies have invested in hotel industry and plantation
\nsector (oil palm, sugarcane and sugar mills) in Indonesia.<\/p>",
