HIV\/AIDS cases hike to 18 in Samarinda<\/p>\n
SAMARINDA, East Kalimantan: Chairman of local chapter of the
\nAIDS controlling agency, Waris Husain, revealed that the victims
\nof HIV\/AIDS here has increased to 18 people from the last year's
\n17 cases.<\/p>\n
Waris said that most of the cases were found at the red-light
\nareas or masseur parlors since the virus, which attacks human's
\nimmunity, can easily be contracted through unsafe sexual
\nintercourse.<\/p>\n
\"Other factors to the increase are: the increasing of
\npopulation coming from the migrants as the excess of the industry
\ngrowth here and the better transportation which enhance people's
\nflow here in and out the borders to the Phillipines, Thailand and
\nMalaysia,\" he argued as quoted by Antara.<\/p>\n
He also said that free sex among the teenagers and the use of
\nunsterile syringes by drug users and the medical practitioners
\nare also contributes to the spread of the virus.<\/p>\n
The local administration and the non-governmental
\norganizations have taken preventions by disseminating information
\non the important use of condom during sexual intercourse straight
