Hitachi exports excavators<\/p>\n
CIBITUNG, West Java (JP): PT Hitachi Construction Machinery
\nIndonesia, an Indonesian-Japanese joint venture, launched its
\nfirst export of assembled heavy equipment by sending eight
\nhydraulic excavators worth US$700,000 to Malaysia.<\/p>\n
"The excavators, containing 40 percent local components, will
\nbe used for logging operations, canal and ditch constructions,
\nand prawn cultivation activities," Hitachi Indonesia's president,
\nRustam Effendi, said in a ceremony marking the export launching
\nyesterday.<\/p>\n
The excavators, with an average weight of 12.2 tons, carry the
\nbrand of Ex-100M Hitachi made in Indonesia, he said.<\/p>\n
The company, jointly owned by Hitachi Construction Ltd. and
\nItochu Corp. of Japan as well as PT Murinda Iron Steel and PT
\nHexindo Adi Perkasa of Indonesia, has so far exported components
\nand parts of heavy equipment to Japan.<\/p>\n
"Our total exports of components reached $2.75 million last
\nyear, up from $1.35 million a year earlier," he said, adding that
\napproximately 700 hydraulic excavators have been supplied to the
\ndomestic market.<\/p>\n
He said that his company plans to export 50 new excavators to
\nMalaysia and Thailand this year. (fhp)<\/p>",
