I most welcome the Jakarta administration's special attention
\nto the preservation of old and historical buildings in the
\ncapital city.<\/p>\n
For the past few years, Jakartans have been extremely saddened
\nto see old buildings inexorably replaced by shopping centers,
\noffice towers and malls.<\/p>\n
In downtown Jakarta too, nearly all historic buildings have
\nbeen bulldozed. Only a few have been spared to be preserved as
\npart of the city's historical heritage.<\/p>\n
From now on, the Jakarta administration should impose on
\ndevelopers and investors not to build arbitrarily. The Bank
\nTabungan Negara tower in the Harmoni area is a good example of a
\nmodern high-rise, while the old building in front has been left
\nintact.<\/p>\n
The issuance of a license for each historical building in West
\nJakarta is commendable because it is a serious endeavor toward
\nmaintaining the buildings in their original state.<\/p>\n
