Tanimbar, Maluku (ANTARA) - Anthony Leong, Secretary General of the\nCentral Board of the Indonesian Young Entrepreneurs Association (BPP\nHIPMI), has assessed that the fuel distribution system needs to be\nevaluated comprehensively.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn my view, a long-term solution cannot rely solely on adding more\nvehicles. I believe a thorough evaluation of the fuel supply chain and\ndistribution system is needed, including the readiness of logistics\ninfrastructure, stock management, and real-time supply monitoring so\nthat distribution can run more effectively,\u201d Anthony said in a statement\nreceived in Tanimbar, Maluku, on Friday.<\/p>\n
The statement came in response to the fuel shortages and long queues\nthat occurred in North Sumatra.<\/p>\n
He added that energy security must be built through a robust risk\nmitigation system, adequate buffer stock availability, and readiness to\nface various potential distribution disruptions in the future.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, he emphasised the importance of synergy between\nPertamina, regional governments, and security forces in ensuring smooth\nenergy distribution, particularly during demand surges.<\/p>\n
According to him, good coordination will accelerate decision-making,\nkeep distribution routes running smoothly, and minimise the potential\nfor public panic caused by inaccurate information.<\/p>\n
\u201cUltimately, synergy among all parties is the key to maintaining\nenergy supply stability, supporting the continuity of regional economic\nactivity, and providing certainty for the public and businesses,\u201d\nAnthony said.<\/p>\n
HIPMI also expressed appreciation for the surprise inspection (sidak)\nconducted by Ade Jona Prasetyo, a member of Commission XII of the House\nof Representatives (DPR RI), regarding the fuel queues and shortages in\nNorth Sumatra.<\/p>\n
According to him, the move demonstrates that the DPR\u2019s oversight\nfunction is working well in ensuring that energy distribution to the\npublic remains assured.<\/p>\n
He assessed that the coordination established between the DPR,\nPertamina, regional governments, and security forces will accelerate the\nresolution of problems on the ground while also serving as material for\nevaluation to strengthen the fuel distribution system going forward.<\/p>\n
PT Pertamina Patra Niaga recorded that fuel demand in the Medan area\nof North Sumatra rose by 5\u201310 per cent compared with the daily\naverage.<\/p>\n
Pertamina therefore responded by accelerating the reinforcement of\ndistribution capacity so that the public\u2019s energy needs continue to be\nmet without disruption, said Kitty Andhora, VP Corporate Communication\nat Pertamina Patra Niaga.<\/p>\n
As an acceleration measure, Pertamina Patra Niaga added 10\noperational tanker trucks and 30 spot charter tankers, and strengthened\ndistribution personnel with an additional 34 tanker truck crews (AMT)\nfrom the nearest Fuel Terminal plus support from 16 personnel from\nBekangdam.<\/p>\n
The company also continues to provide guidance and impose\ndisciplinary sanctions on all operational partners to ensure the\ndistribution process complies with safety, compliance, and reliability\nstandards.<\/p>\n
In addition, operations at the Medan Fuel Terminal and a number of\npetrol stations have been optimised around the clock to speed up fuel\ndelivery to the public. These efforts have yielded positive results. On\n14 July 2026, distribution reached 104 per cent of the daily target,\nwith 149 tanker trucks operating, or 115 per cent.<\/p>\n
The Medan Fuel Terminal is now operating normally and all fuel\ndistribution to petrol stations is running smoothly.
