        "content": "<p>Higher parking fees planned<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA: Governor Sutiyoso submitted on Tuesday a draft of the<br>\nbylaw on the fee for vehicle parking for further deliberation by<br>\nthe City Council.<\/p>\n<p>Sutiyoso said if the draft was passed into a bylaw by the City<br>\nCouncil, it was expected to boost the city's revenue as there was<br>\nstill a lot of money from vehicle parking tax that could be<br>\ncollected by the administration.<\/p>\n<p>The city administration is giving consideration to raising the<br>\nparking fees managed by the private sector, particularly in<br>\nstrategic areas. \"In certain areas, Rp 1,000 per hour is too<br>\ncheap,\" he added.<\/p>\n<p>The governor said the off-street parking managed by the<br>\nprivate sector was expected to make a significant contribution to<br>\nthe city's revenue as the administration would impose a 20<br>\npercent tax on the turnover.<\/p>\n<p>He said that there were some 420 parking lots managed by<br>\nprivate sector, while the permits to manage 261 other locations<br>\nwere being processed. --JP<\/p>",
