        "content": "<p>The Muhammadiyah University of Jakarta (UMJ) commemorated World\nEnvironment Day 2026 by holding the MemBumi 2026 event at Taman Green\nPark UMJ on Friday (5\/6). Themed \u2018Real Action for a Green Campus\u2019, the\nevent is part of the university\u2019s efforts to build a culture of\nenvironmental awareness and encourage sustainable practices within the\nacademic setting. The series of activities began with a talk show themed\non the environment from an Islamic perspective, featuring the Dean of\nUMJ\u2019s Faculty of Agriculture, Sularno, and the Head of Programme for the\nNGO Bicara Udara, Primadita Rahma Ekida. UMJ also planted 3,650 tree\nseedlings in collaboration with the Ministry of Forestry and PT Wahana\nMakmur Sejati (Wahana Honda). Furthermore, the campus launched a waste\nsegregation management programme and a Temporary Disposal Site facility\nas part of strengthening the environmental management system on campus\ngrounds. UMJ Rector Ma\u2019mun Murod stated that the MemBumi programme\nrepresents a form of commitment by Muhammadiyah higher education\ninstitutions to realise the values of sustainability and care for the\nenvironment. According to Ma\u2019mun, Islamic teachings have a close\nconnection with efforts to protect life, humanity, and environmental\nsustainability. Therefore, environmental issues must become a shared\nconcern. \u2018Various teachings in Islamic law are closely related to the\nprotection of life, religion, intellect, human rights, and the\nenvironment,\u2019 said Ma\u2019mun. He assessed that the various disasters\noccurring today cannot be separated from the issue of environmental\ndamage. For this reason, the public needs to help oversee policies\nrelated to environmental conservation. Ma\u2019mun expressed the hope that\nthe movement started through MemBumi would not cease as a ceremonial\nactivity but would develop into a sustainable programme involving the\nentire academic community. On that occasion, UMJ also presented awards\nto the winners of a Sustainability Survey involving students, lecturers,\nand education staff. Additionally, the campus announced the Most\nSustainable Faculty based on UI GreenMetric score achievements. The\nFaculty of Engineering took first place with a score of 1,387.5. The\nnext positions were occupied by the Faculty of Public Health with a\nscore of 1,277.5 and the Faculty of Education with a score of 1,190. The\nevent concluded with the release of eco-enzymes into the river stream\naround the campus as a form of education and a campaign to improve water\nquality and preserve aquatic ecosystems.
