Jakarta \u2014 The Supreme Court has granted an appeal in a case\nconcerning the validity of Vice-President Gibran Rakabuming Raka\u2019s high\nschool diploma equivalency certificate. The decision is set out in\nruling No.\u00a0742 K\/TUN\/2026, filed by a member of the public named\nSubhan.<\/p>\n
The court declared the certificate invalid and null and void.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe ruling: appeal granted, the judex facti decision overturned, and\nthe case decided on its merits: the claimant\u2019s entire lawsuit is\ngranted,\u201d the ruling stated, as quoted on Friday (30 October 2026).<\/p>\n
The decision annuls the high school education equivalency certificate\nissued in Gibran\u2019s name by the Ministry of Education, formally rendering\nthe document invalid.<\/p>\n
The appeal was decided on 30 October 2026 by a panel led by Yulius,\nChief of the Supreme Court\u2019s State Administrative Chamber. Supreme Court\njustices Maftuh Effendi and Hari Sugiharto also sat on the case.<\/p>\n
Former deputy law and human rights minister Denny Indrayana also\nannounced the appeal ruling on his official Instagram account. Denny is\nan associate of Subhan in the case.<\/p>\n
\u201cMr Subhan\u2019s appeal seeking the annulment of Gibran\u2019s education\nequivalency certificate has been granted,\u201d Denny wrote.<\/p>\n
Denny said the appeal ruling concerned Gibran\u2019s educational\nqualifications, which had previously been examined by the Constitutional\nCourt.<\/p>\n
