        "content": "<p>High gold prices and university fees are driving Indonesia\u2019s\ninflation to 2.42% in April 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Inflation has struck all regions of\nIndonesia in April 2026, with the national rate standing at 2.42% (year\non year\/yoy) compared to April 2025. This inflationary pressure is lower\nthan the previous month\u2019s 3.48% (yoy), but still higher than the same\nperiod last year at 1.95%.<\/p>\n<p>Deputy for Distribution and Services Statistics at BPS, Ateng\nHartono, explained that the main drivers of annual inflation in April\n2026 were high inflation in the food, beverages, and tobacco sector at\n3.06% yoy, with a contribution of 0.90%.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe biggest inflationary commodities in this group are fresh fish,\nbroiler chicken meat, rice, cooking oil, machine-rolled kretek\ncigarettes, and broiler chicken eggs,\u201d said Ateng during a press\nconference in Jakarta on Monday (4\/5\/2026).<\/p>\n<p>In addition, commodities in the personal care and other services\nsector also became the main drivers of annual inflation in April 2026,\nspecifically personal care and other services such as gold at 11.43%\nyoy, with a contribution of 0.77% to overall inflation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cInflation in that group mainly occurred in the gold jewellery\ncategory,\u201d stated Ateng.<\/p>\n<p>According to its components, all experienced annual inflation. The\ncore component saw annual inflation of 2.44% with a contribution of\n1.56%. The dominant commodities contributing to the core component were\nprimarily gold jewellery, cooking oil, rice with side dishes, and\nuniversity or academy tuition fees.<\/p>\n<p>For the volatile price component, inflation was 3.37% with a\ncontribution of 0.56%. The dominant commodities exerting inflationary\npressure in this component include broiler chicken meat, rice, and\nbroiler chicken eggs.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the government-regulated price component experienced\ninflation of 1.53% with a contribution of 0.30%.
