The Hezbollah militant group, on Saturday (8 March 2026), said it had\nlaunched 20 rocket and drone attacks against several Israeli military\nsites and concentrations of troops in the northern part of Israel. The\nLebanon-based group said in a series of statements monitored by Anadolu\nthat the attacks were carried out in response to Israeli strikes on\ndozens of towns and villages in Lebanon, including areas in the southern\noutskirts of Beirut.<\/p>\n
One of the targets was the city of Nahariya in northern Israel.\nHezbollah said it launched three waves of rocket attacks and a swarm of\nunmanned aerial vehicles that roamed about after warning residents to\nleave the area.<\/p>\n
Earlier on Saturday, the group also urged residents of Nahariya and\nKiryat Shmona to evacuate the area and move south. The warning was\nissued via Telegram, accompanied by a map of the two towns.<\/p>\n
Hezbollah also said it had targeted the Iron Dome radar system at\nKiryat Eliezer, which they described as one of Haifa\u2019s main air defence\nbases in northern Israel. Other attacks included rocket fire and drone\nstrikes on the cities of Haifa and Kiryat Shmona, as well as the Stella\nMaris base and the Rafael industrial complex near the city of Acre,\naccording to the group.<\/p>\n
The Hezbollah also reported strikes against several Israeli military\npositions near the Lebanon border, including troop concentrations around\nKhiam and Hamamis Hill in southern Lebanon. Additional strikes also\ntargeted military positions around the Fatima Gate crossing on the\nLebanon-Israel border and the Ein Zeitim base northwest of Safed, the\ngroup said.<\/p>\n
Hezbollah also said it fired a \u2018precision missile\u2019 toward the Tel\nHashomer base, about 120 kilometres from the Lebanon border. The Israeli\nmilitary acknowledged that a nighttime special forces operation in\neastern Lebanon to locate the remains of missing navigator Ron Arad did\nnot succeed.<\/p>\n
This development comes amid an expanding Israeli military campaign in\nLebanon since Monday, following limited rocket fire by Hezbollah amid\nmounting regional tensions triggered by the war sparked by Israeli and\nUS military actions against Iran.<\/p>\n
Israel has killed more than 4,000 people and wounded about 17,000\nothers in the Lebanon campaign that began in October 2023 and escalated\ninto full-scale war by September 2024.
