        "content": "<p>Help eradicate corruption<\/p>\n<p>Nothing manifests the sheer destructive lunacy of some Western<br>\norganizations&apos; policies toward Indonesia, as the present campaign<br>\nto stop the International Monetary Fund and World Bank from<br>\naiding Indonesia until illegal logging here comes to an end.<\/p>\n<p>Illegal logging is just one symptom of the absence of law and<br>\norder, and the ubiquitous presence of corruption in this country.<br>\nThe other symptoms, such as mass ethnic killings, human rights<br>\nabuses, burgeoning crime, poverty and deprivation are much more<br>\nsevere and, by rights, should concern the international community<br>\nfar more. These symptoms, however, are more difficult for the<br>\nWest to relate to as their correction requires much more than<br>\njust a desire to salve consciences and demonstrate self-<br>\nrighteousness, but, instead, necessitates a proper understanding<br>\nof the complexities of the social, political and economic<br>\nequation here. It seems that Western simplistic populism has<br>\nlearned nothing from the East Timor debacle.<\/p>\n<p>What Western organizations should be doing is encouraging the<br>\nplowing of money and expertise into strengthening order based on<br>\nthe rule of law, and in the process, helping to eradicate<br>\nIndonesia&apos;s cancer of corruption.
