Helicopter crashes in Ancol<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Two people survived a helicopter crash uninjured
\non Wednesday when the aircraft belonging to PT Heli Zona
\nattempted an emergency landing on a golf course on the Taman
\nImpian Jaya Ancol recreation site in North Jakarta.<\/p>\n
The helicopter, piloted by Suratman, a retired Navy
\nserviceman, was carrying a Sonora radio reporter, Bartolomeus
\nBatag Gunarto, who was making aerial reports of traffic
\nconditions across Greater Jakarta, when its engine failed at
\naround 9 a.m.<\/p>\n
The aircraft, with registration code PK-WMB, broke its main
\nand rear rotors when it overturned during the landing.<\/p>\n
Spokesman for PT Heli Zona, Robert Haubourdin, told reporters
\nthat the helicopter, produced by Robinson Manufacture in October
\nlast year, was forced to make an emergency landing after its
\nwarning light flashed twice while passing the Ancol area.<\/p>\n
He said the helicopter was already slowly losing altitude
\nfollowing the warning signal.<\/p>\n
The pilot steered the aircraft to the nearest open field for
\nan emergency landing after he saw the warning light for the third
\ntime.<\/p>\n
Haubourdin blamed the bumpy terrain of the golf course for the
\naccident on landing.<\/p>\n
He said he was not informed of how serious the damage to the
\nhelicopter was, which was sent to its hangar in Lido, Sukabumi,
\nin West Java.<\/p>\n
Security personnel blanketed the helicopter with a tarpaulin
\nand prevented people from approaching it after the crash. They
\nalso prevented journalists from taking photographs.<\/p>\n
An investigation team comprising representatives from City
\nPolice, the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunication and
\nPT Heli Zona has been formed.<\/p>\n
Sonora, a leading commercial radio station in the city, makes
\nlive aerial traffic reports every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.<\/p>\n
A staff member of the radio station said the program would
