Heerjee named new Indosat vice president<\/p>\n
PT Indonesian Satellite (Indosat) Tbk., the country's second-
\nlargest telecommunications firm, has appointed Kaizad B. Heerjee
\nas its new vice president director.<\/p>\n
In the extraordinary shareholders meeting on Thursday, nearly
\nall the attending shareholders approved Heerjee's appointment.
\nHeerjee replaced Ng Eng Ho, who will move back to Singapore
\nTechnologies Telemedia (STT), the majority shareholder in
\nIndosat.<\/p>\n
Heerjee previously served as STT senior vice president of
\ninternational operations and business development.<\/p>\n
"With the new management, we hope to improve the company's
\nperformance and face telecommunication business competition in
\nthe coming years," Indosat president Hasnul Suhaimi (right) said.<\/p>\n
Indosat recorded revenues of Rp 8.9 trillion (US$908.16
\nmillion) in the year's first nine months and a net profit of Rp
\n5.7 trillion for the same period.<\/p>\n
As of Dec. 20, the firm's subscribers have reached 14.4
\nmillion, surpassing the targeted 14 million. Indosat plans to
\ngrow subscribers by between three and four million next year. --
