        "content": "<p>The Ministry of Health has officially opened a special pathway called\nthe Independent Health Technology Assessment (PTK Mandiri) to shorten\nthe time needed to evaluate the feasibility of medical innovations in\nIndonesia, accelerating public access to the latest health devices and\ntreatments.<\/p>\n<p>Head of the Health Development Policy Agency (BKPK) Asnawi Abdullah\nsaid in Jakarta on Wednesday that under the new route, external parties\nsuch as academics, the health industry and patient organisations no\nlonger need to wait for government initiative. Although the process is\nbeing accelerated, the government continues to prioritise the\nprecautionary principle.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTechnology is important, but what matters more is the wisdom in\nselecting, adopting and financing that technology through a process\ngrounded in strong, transparent scientific evidence,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>These parties can now proactively submit independent feasibility\nevaluations for new devices or health technologies, accompanied by\nscientific evidence. The rule is based on Decree\nHK.01.07\/Menkes\/641\/2026 concerning Guidelines for the Implementation of\nIndependent Health Technology Assessment.<\/p>\n<p>In agreement, Director General of Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices\nat the Ministry of Health, L. Rizka Andalusia, described the move as a\nway to hasten the delivery of medical innovations to the public while\nsafeguarding the state budget.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis acceleration does not diminish the quality of the study\noutcomes or the independence of the assessment process. The entire\nprocess remains solely for the benefit and safety of the public,\u201d she\nsaid.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Head of the Health System Resilience Policy Centre at\nBKPK, Lupi Trilaksono, confirmed that independent assessments submitted\nfrom outside government must still meet the same strict quality\nstandards as regular government evaluations. The two pathways will\ncomplement each other so that policy is made accountably.<\/p>\n<p>For stakeholders wishing to submit evaluations of new medical\ninnovations, the government has opened a submission window from 9 to 16\nJuly 2026.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe next stage is document evaluation from 10 to 26 July 2026,\nfollowed by the submission of complete study documents from 27 July to\n24 August 2026, all conducted online through the Indonesian Health\nTechnology Assessment (HTA) portal,\u201d she said.<\/p>",
