Health books donated<\/p>\n
SEMARANG, Central Java: Thousands of health books donated by
\nthe Japanese government have been distributed to all districts in
\nthe province and were expected to help maternal and child health
\ndevelopment programs in the region, a local official said here
\nyesterday.<\/p>\n
Antara quoted Sri Astuti Suparmanto of the local health office
\nas saying that Japan recently donated 303,000 books on maternal
\nand child health care through the Japanese International
\nCooperation Agency and the United Nations Fund for Population
\nActivities.<\/p>\n
The books include 185,000 self-help books for mothers and
\nchildren; 110,000 guidebooks for health officials; and 1,000
\nbooks on strategies to lower maternal death.<\/p>\n
Japan also donated medical equipment, including 100 ambubags
\n(respirators for babies who were born with breathing problems)
