        "content": "<p>JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Head of Commission X in the Indonesian\nHouse of Representatives, Hetifah Sjaifudian, hopes that the change in\nnomenclature from \u2018Teknik\u2019 (Engineering) to \u2018Rekayasa\u2019 for study\nprogrammes is more than just a name change.<\/p>\n<p>This was conveyed by Hetifah in response to the decision made by the\nMinistry of Higher Education, Science and Technology\n(Kemendiktisaintek), which officially changed the nomenclature of\n\u2018Teknik\u2019 study programmes to \u2018Rekayasa\u2019 across all universities in\nIndonesia.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe main focus of higher education should still be directed towards\nimproving the quality of education and the competitiveness of graduates,\nnot just changing the name of the study programme,\u201d Hetifah told\nKompas.com on Sunday (17\/5\/2026).<\/p>\n<p>According to her, the name change must be accompanied by\nstrengthening the substance of the curriculum and improving the quality\nof graduates.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe spirit of this change should truly be able to boost\ncompetitiveness,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMost importantly, the government needs to ensure that this change\ndoes not have a negative impact on graduates, especially in terms of\naccreditation, professional certification, job recruitment processes, or\ninternational recognition,\u201d Hetifah added.<\/p>\n<p>The decision was made based on the Decree of the Director General of\nHigher Education Number 96\/B\/KPT\/2025 concerning the Name of Study\nProgrammes in Academic and Professional Education.
