        "content": "<p>Batam (ANTARA) - The Head of the Indonesian Maritime Security Agency\n(Bakamla), Rear Admiral TNI Irvansyah, has inaugurated three Bakamla\nZonal Command Headquarters (Mako) simultaneously to strengthen national\nmaritime security.<\/p>\n<p>The inauguration covers the Western Zone in Batam, the Central Zone\nin Manado, and the Eastern Zone in Ambon, with the Bakamla Head\nattending in person in Batam, Riau Islands (Kepri).<\/p>\n<p>In Batam on Thursday, Irvansyah stated that the presence of these\nthree zones is expected to increase the effectiveness of surveillance\nand law enforcement in Indonesia\u2019s extensive waters.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe one in Batam is the largest headquarters. We hope that this year\nthe command and control centre can function optimally, so that the\nwestern, central, and eastern regions can be secured to the maximum,\u201d he\nsaid.<\/p>\n<p>The Western Zone Headquarters stands on land of approximately 16.8\nhectares and is equipped with various support facilities, such as a\ndock, command building, harbour master\u2019s office, command and control\ncentre (Puskodal), multi-purpose building, clinic, official residences,\nand apartments.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the Central Bakamla Zone is located in Kalasey I Village,\nMandolang Subdistrict, Minahasa Regency, North Sulawesi Province,\ncovering 7 hectares, equipped with the John Lie Mako Building and the\nBanjarmasin Bakamla Post.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the Eastern Bakamla Zone is located in Hatu Village,\nLeihitu Barat Subdistrict, Central Maluku Regency, Maluku Province,\ncovering 0.5 hectares with the Martha Cristina Tiahahu Mako Building\nfacility.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, the construction of these facilities is not only\nintended for operational purposes but is also expected to benefit the\nsurrounding community.<\/p>\n<p>On the same occasion, the Deputy Governor of the Riau Islands,\nNyanyang Haris Pratamura, emphasised the importance of Bakamla\u2019s\npresence in the Kepri region, which is dominated by waters.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cKepri is a region dominated by sea, with only two percent land, as\nwell as Indonesia\u2019s gateway in the North and West. Its economic\npotential is great, but challenges such as smuggling and maritime\nviolations are also high,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>She assessed that Bakamla\u2019s presence is crucial not only for\nsurveillance but also as a coordination hub among stakeholders in\nmaintaining maritime security.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis inauguration is a strategic step as a centre for command and\ncross-sector coordination, so that various maritime disruption\npotentials can be prevented,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>With the inauguration of these three zones, Indonesia\u2019s maritime\nsecurity system is expected to become increasingly integrated and\ncapable of sustainably safeguarding the sovereignty and safety of its\nwater territories.<\/p>",
