HB Jassin still in hospital<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Writer and literary critic Hans Bague Jassin
\nentered his 10th day of hospital treatment yesterday. He was
\nadmitted Friday to Cipto Mangun Kusumo General Hospital after
\nbeing transferred from Saint Carolus Hospital for stroke.<\/p>\n
At Cipto, a team of doctors specializing in stroke treatment
\nwere watching over Jassin, who will be 80 years old next month.<\/p>\n
\"Doctors said they would study results of tests done at
\nCarolus Hospital,\" his wife Yulico said.<\/p>\n
\"He must be frustrated because he can't write now,\" she said,
\nadding that Jassin even had speech impairment.<\/p>\n
She said Jassin had been working on at least two translations
\nof Sufi poetry before he suffered a stroke to the right side of
\nhis body. Family members said he was walking to the bathroom at
\nthe time of the attack.<\/p>\n
\"He had worked too hard, even if we would deliberately turned
\noff the lights,\" she said. Jassin usually wrote scripts at home
\nand had his secretary and niece, Rita, type them.<\/p>\n
As of yesterday, Jassin's visitors have been playwright Putu
\nWijaya, writers Titie Said and Soekanto S.A., and former minister
\nof education and culture Fuad Hassan.<\/p>\n
Next month the second publication of his Al Quran Berwajah
\nPuisi (The Koran in Verse Form) is expected. It finally gained
\nclearance from the Ministry of Religious Affairs last year after
\nthe Majelis Ulama Indonesia had said a few years ago that it was
\nundesirable to publish the Koran in verse form. (anr)<\/p>",
