Secretary General of the PDI Perjuangan Central Executive Board,\nHasto Kristiyanto, observed that many critics of government programmes\nare being reported to the police, such as criticisms regarding food\nissues. However, he stated, this nation is built on dialectics or\ncontradictions.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis Republic is built on dialectics,\u201d he said during the Seminar\nCommemorating the 71st Anniversary of the Asia-Africa Conference (KAA)\nat the PDI Perjuangan Party School in Lenteng Agung, South Jakarta, on\nSaturday, 18 April 2026.<\/p>\n
He assessed that criticism demonstrates love for the Motherland, not\na desire for the government to fail. \u201cCriticism of the government is\nbecause we care, love for this Republic,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Hasto\u2019s statement on criticism relates to the relevance of the 1955\nKAA ideas to the current situation. He said that the KAA called for the\nUN to create a resolution to reconcile conflicts between Arab countries\nand Palestine at that time. That call was signed by 29 KAA countries,\nincluding Indonesia. \u201cThis is why Indonesia must consistently fight for\nPalestine,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The KAA also declared the elimination of colonialism. The KAA\nsupported Indonesia\u2019s position on the West Irian issue.<\/p>\n
The KAA\u2019s stance on international law is enshrined in the Bandung Ten\nPrinciples. For him, the KAA\u2019s outcomes carry a narrative of liberation.\nThat liberation narrative must be interpreted to respect differences in\nideas and thoughts.<\/p>\n
\u201cDifferences in ideas and thoughts, as long as driven by a spirit of\nlove for the Motherland for the nation\u2019s progress. It is not forbidden,\nbut it is important in terms of democracy,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Hasto stated that PDI Perjuangan must be a sturdy and progressive\nparty. PDIP, he said, must be sturdy in facing various pressures.\n\u201cBecause we want to free ourselves from various pressures,\nexploitations. Including the functioning of DPR functions as checks and\nbalances,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Previously, Chairman of the Tani Nusantara Legal Aid Institute, Minta\nIto Simamora, reported constitutional law expert from Andalas\nUniversity, Feri Amsari, to the Metro Jaya Regional Police. Ito reported\nFeri for alleged dissemination of false news related to his statements\nat an observers\u2019 halal bihalal event.<\/p>\n
Head of Public Relations Division of Metro Jaya Regional Police,\nCommissioner General Budi Hermanto, said the complainant submitted the\nreport on Friday, 17 April 2026. \u201cToday we received a report from Mrs\nMIS,\u201d he said when met by reporters on Friday.<\/p>\n
Budi said Ito reported the alleged violation of Article 264 of Law\nNumber 1 of 2023 on the Criminal Code. The police recorded the report\nwith number LP\/B\/2692\/IV\/2026\/SPKT\/POLDA METRO JAYA dated 17 April\n2026.<\/p>\n
Ito Simamora admitted to being restless over Feri\u2019s statement that\ncalled the food self-sufficiency programme a failure. He assessed that\nFeri\u2019s statement at the observers\u2019 halal bihalal event had the potential\nto incite division among farmers and traders in Indonesia. \u201cWhen Feri\nAmsari said there is no self-sufficiency, it is very disturbing to\nfarmers,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Ito also submitted several pieces of evidence in the form of social\nmedia screenshots and several videos containing Feri\u2019s statements about\nfood self-sufficiency. He also submitted comparative data from the\nMinistry of Agriculture and the Central Statistics Agency (BPS).<\/p>\n
Feri Amsari has not responded to messages sent by Tempo regarding the\nreport that implicates his name. In an event titled \u201cBefore Observers\nAre Regulated,\u201d Feri stated that Indonesia has not achieved food\nself-sufficiency.<\/p>\n
He emphasised that if the government claims Indonesia has achieved\nself-sufficiency, the government must prove it with data. \u201cWhy from 2024\nto 2025 we still imported 5.4 million tons of rice, suddenly in 2026 it\nbecomes zero? Answer that data first,\u201d he said at the forum, as quoted\nfrom the Instagram account @2045TV<\/span>.<\/p>\n According to Feri, self-sufficiency can be realised if the number of\nrice fields increases and agricultural technology advances. However,\nbased on the data he has, the number of rice fields has not increased.\n\u201cOr because of more advanced rice planting technology in the fields. My\nquestion, which village in Indonesia plants more sophisticatedly than\nJapan? We want to know that. There is no such data. The President is\nopenly lying to the public,\u201d he said.<\/p>",
