Hasjim under city arrest<\/p>\n
JAKARTA: Suspect in the Bank Indonesia Liquidity Support Fund
\n(BLBI) case, Hasjim Djojohadikusumo, has been placed under city
\narrest effective Wednesday at 3 p.m.<\/p>\n
Presiding Judge Halim Rusdi of the Central Jakarta District
\nCourt fulfilled the request of Hasjim's lawyer, Hotman Paris
\nHutapea, to change Hasjim's status.<\/p>\n
Hasjim, former president commissioner of Bank Industri, and
\nthe bank's director Umar Yudi have been detained at Salemba
\nPenitentiary since March 13.<\/p>\n
They were arrested for violating the legal lending limit which
\ncaused the country to suffer losses of Rp 4 billion (US$400,000).

JAKARTA: A former police officer is wanted on suspicion of
\nraping his two daughters.<\/p>\n
The suspect, First. Sgt. (ret) Igedius Petrus, 50, allegedly
\nescaped after his wife, Lily H. Elizabeth, 45, caught him
\nsexually abusing the girls late Tuesday night at their residence
\nin Cipayung, East Jakarta, East Jakarta Police chief of
\ndetectives Sr. Comr. Putu Wijaya said on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
The victims, aged 14 and 12, told their mother they had been
\nabused since 1995, Putu told reporters, adding that Igedius
\nPetrus, who had seven children, was a former officer of the

Sutiyoso unaware of corruption<\/p>\n
JAKARTA: Governor Sutiyoso claimed on Wednesday he had not
\nreceived the report from the City Audit Agency about the alleged
\ncorruption and irregularities at his office, which had inflicted
\nRp 179 billion (US$17.9 million) losses to the city
\nadministration.<\/p>\n
But he said that he would not hesitate to take action against
\nanyone involved in the offense.<\/p>\n
The irregularities, which took place in 12 institutions, were
\nrevealed by the audit agency during a hearing with the Commission
\nC for budgetary affairs on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
Most of the losses suffered by the city administration, were
\ncaused by the city-owned property operator BPL Sunter, who had

Flood-related diseases kill 67<\/p>\n
JAKARTA: A total of 67 people have died due flood-related
\ndiseases after the huge floods that hit the capital recently.<\/p>\n
Minister of Health Achmad Sujudi said on Tuesday that 26,629
\npeople fell ill and 67 died. Twenty-six died due to diarrhea, 17
\ndue to leptospirosis, 12 of respiratory problems and 12 of dengue
\nfever, Antara reported.<\/p>\n
Flood victims were entitled to free medical treatment and
\nhospitalization.<\/p>\n
The minister handed over Rp 507.7 million to reimburse 22 of
\nthe 48 hospitals in the city for their services. The remaining 26
\nhospitals had not asked for reimbursement.<\/p>\n
Another Rp 186.7 million was also disbursed for 527 volunteers
\nwho assisted the flood victims who were ill.<\/p>\n
The floods that hit Jakarta for about one month, from late
\nJanuary, affected about 300,000 people in the city's five
