Hartarto to address Australian business forum<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Around 200 Australian businessmen will arrive in
\nJakarta next month to hold a high level business forum themed
\n\"Expanding Horizons\", says an Australian official.<\/p>\n
John Campbell, the first assistant secretary of the public
\naffairs division of the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs
\nand Trade said Thursday that Coordinating Minister for Industry
\nand Trade Hartarto and Australian Minister of Trade Bob McMullan
\nhave confirmed that they will be addressing the delegates of the
\nforum, to be held at the Jakarta Hilton Convention Center on June
\n29-30.<\/p>\n
Campbell said the forum's discussion will focus on seven key
\nareas where Australia can offer Indonesia a competitive edge:
\nMining, energy, transport infrastructure, building construction,
\ntelecommunications and information technology.<\/p>\n
Commenting on the importance of Australian participation in
\nIndonesia's development, he said \"We must be proactive in
\nbuilding our trade relationship with Indonesia. We are
\nIndonesia's closest western neighbor and have a wealth of
\ninternationally competitive products and services,\" he said.<\/p>\n
Campbell added that the forum and trade mission will enable
\npartners from both countries to meet, discuss their needs and
\nultimately develop a tighter partnership.<\/p>\n
Over 200 Australian business people have expressed interest in
\nthe forum and trade mission, making it the biggest trade mission
\never to leave Australia. The mission is part of Australia Today
\nIndonesia '94, a bilateral cooperation campaign sponsored by the
\nAustralian government.<\/p>\n
He said that other speakers will include State Minister of
\nInvestment\/Chairman of the Investment Coordinating Board Sanyoto
\nSastrowardoyo, the deputy secretary of the Australian Department
\nof Foreign Affairs and Trade, Geoff Forrester, and a leading
\nAustralian businessman in Indonesia, Graeme Robertson of the
