On Wednesday, 20 May 2026, the Metro Jaya Regional Police deployed a\ncombined 14,237 personnel to secure demonstrations marking National\nAwakening Day (Hakitnas) 2026 at several points in Jakarta.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Metro Jaya Police, together with Kodam Jaya, are preparing for\npublic expression of opinion in a public gathering, including\narrangements related to traffic flow,\u201d Budi said in a statement on\nWednesday.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe tens of thousands of combined personnel consist of 12,263 Polri\npersonnel, 500 TNI personnel, 74 local government personnel, 400 DPR\/MPR\nRI security staff and 1,000 Sabuk Kamtibmas\/Potmas volunteers.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThe presence of personnel on the ground is to provide a sense of\nsecurity and smooth conveyance of aspirations by our brothers and\nsisters from several elements of society,\u201d Budi said.<\/p>\n
\u201cBudi added that traffic management around the protest sites would be\nconducted on a situational basis, adapting to field conditions.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cHowever, the police urged the public to follow the directions of\non-site officers to keep activities running smoothly.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWe respect the public\u2019s right to express opinions as it is a right\nprotected by law.
