Hariyanto joins Thomas Cup team<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Hariyanto Arbi finally joined the Thomas Cup
\nteam on Monday after defeating compatriot Budi Santoso 15-8, 15-
\n8, in an internal selection at the Indonesian Badminton Center in
\nCipayung, East Jakarta.<\/p>\n
The complete list of both Thomas and Uber Cups teams will be
\nannounced by the Badminton Association of Indonesia (PBSI) on
\nWednesday evening at the latest, prior to the simulation at the
\nPadjdjaran Stadium in Bogor on Thursday.<\/p>\n

\nFerdinand Siregar said the meeting staged at chairman Subagyo
\nHadisiswoyo's residence on Monday evening did not discuss team
\nline-ups.<\/p>\n
\"We will have meetings tomorrow before sending the line-up to
\nthe International Badminton Federation (IBF) for the Wednesday
\ndeadline,\" he said.<\/p>\n
Hariyanto, nicknamed Hari, joins the world ranked number two
\nHendrawan, world ranked five Taufik Hidayat and world ranked six
\nMarlev Mainaky in team aiming to win the cup for the 12th time.<\/p>\n
In the men's doubles, Indonesia will likely include Sigit
\nBudiarto to enable the team match him with Candra Wijaya, whose
\npartner Tony Gunawan is still recovering from a shoulder injury.<\/p>\n
In the Uber Cup team, Indonesia will rely on Lidya
\nDjaelawidjaja, Ellen Angelina, Yuli Marfuah and Niniek Masrikah.
\nIn the doubles, Elysa Nathanael and Deyana Lomban and Etty Tantri
\nand Cynthia Tuwankotta will definitely join the team. The third
\ndoubles has yet to be decided.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the association's executive director Karsono said
\nPBSI would stage a urine test to scrutinize shuttlers accused of
\nconsuming banned substances.<\/p>\n
\"We have received information from many people saying that
\nsome shuttlers have been taking banned substances, most of them
\necstasy.\"<\/p>\n
Karsono said PBSI would undergo urine tests on 10 suspected
\nshuttlers.<\/p>\n
\"We really want to test all the shuttlers here but due to the
\nexpense, PBSI can only afford 10 tests.\"<\/p>\n
The National Sports Council's (KONI) head of sports science
\ncommission, Carmen Jahya, said in a telephone interview that
\nshould PBSI undergo urine tests, they should be conducted without
\nany prior notification.<\/p>\n
\"If PBSI wants to conduct tests, (it should) do it suddenly.
\nIf the suspected athletes have taken ecstasy or shabu-shabu
\n(crystal methamphetamine), they can erase their tracks by
\nconsuming lots of water. The evidence will disappear within two
\ndays. It's useless,\" she said.<\/p>\n
Carmen said ecstasy and shabu-shabu were produced from
\namphetamine or derivatives of it and were by themselves
\nnonaddictive.<\/p>\n
\"But I don't buy the rumors. I know our shuttlers have good
