        "content": "<p>Jakarta (ANTARA) - Haris Rusly Moti, a pioneer of the 98 Resolution\nNetwork community, has described the emergence of social movements that\nreject the allocation of the State Budget (APBN) for the people as a\nform of anomaly. \u201cIn our view, social movements that are anti-APBN\nallocation for the people, rejecting MBG (Free Nutritious Meals),\nfishing villages, People\u2019s Schools, and so on, are the most extreme\nanomaly in the tradition of social movements. I am convinced that such\nmovements will never gain broad sympathy and support from the people,\u201d\nHaris said in a written statement received by Antara in Jakarta on\nSunday. Haris stated that if there are corrupt officials involved in\nthese policies, it is the corruption itself that should be eradicated,\nnot the programmes that should be halted. \u201cIn fact, a number of\nlong-standing government social assistance programmes are still being\ncorrupted. Let alone the MBG programme, which is newly pioneered and\nrepresents our country\u2019s first experience in managing free nutritious\nmeals for students,\u201d he said. Furthermore, Haris urged critics of\ngovernment policy to present their alternative viewpoints that differ\nfrom the views and policies of President Prabowo. \u201cWe are concerned\nbecause the student group movements and critics are actually opposed to\npro-people policies. Their views instead adopt neoliberal perspectives,\nwhich consider APBN allocation for the people as wasteful and budget\nburning,\u201d Haris remarked. Haris compared this narrative with the finest\nnarratives of Indonesia\u2019s independence revolution era. At that time, in\n1928, Bung Hatta read a plea before the colonial court in The Hague,\nNetherlands, building the narrative of \u2018Indonesia Merdeka\u2019 (Free\nIndonesia). Two years later, in 1930, Bung Karno appeared before the\ncolonial court in Bandung to read his plea \u2018Indonesia Menggugat\u2019\n(Indonesia Accuses). Both Bung Karno and Bung Hatta, according to Haris,\npresented views and narratives that were an antithesis to colonialism,\nnamely a free and sovereign Indonesia. He expressed concern that after\nIndonesia achieved independence, anti-self-reliance narratives such as\n\u2018Indonesia Bangkrut\u2019 (Indonesia Bankrupt) and \u2018Sale Indonesia\u2019 have\ninstead emerged. Haris said it is President Prabowo Subianto who is\nreviving the narratives of the independence revolution era. In his\nvarious speeches, President Prabowo always emphasises that Indonesia\nmust be sovereign and self-reliant. A number of policies crafted by\nPresident Prabowo, Haris said, are aimed at building a self-sufficient\nnational economy, as envisioned by the nation\u2019s founders. \u201cWhen critics\ndemand the eradication of corruption, President Prabowo has already\ntaken a more fundamental step by eradicating state revenue leakages,\nunder-invoicing, and transfer pricing. Previously, the KPK only touched\non state expenditure corruption, which involved small amounts,\u201d he\nstated. \u201cThey hope that the insults and intrigues they direct at\nPresident Prabowo personally will be met with a repressive response.\nThat way, they can find further justification to frame the narrative of\nan authoritarian, anti-democratic regime,\u201d Haris said. He noted that the\ntradition of social movements is to offer alternative views as an\nantithesis to a situation deemed deviant. Haris cited the example of\nprevious social movement eras that built the narrative of the \u2018Indonesia\nBersih\u2019 (Clean Indonesia) movement as an antithesis to a state situation\nconsidered dirty because it was controlled by corruptors and greedy\noligarchs.<\/p>",
