PURWOKERTO, Central Java: A severe lack of funds does not
\ndiscourage the rift-riddled Indonesian Democratic Party (PDI) in
\nBanyumas district from campaigning.<\/p>\n
To make the best use of the limited money and energy, the PDI
\nwill campaign in Banyumas by driving around town in a van and
\nshouting its promises through a megaphone.<\/p>\n
Banyumas PDI chief Narsim Reksosardjono called it the \"Hallo-
\nHallo campaign\".<\/p>\n
\"It's the most economical and safest campaign we can imagine,\"
\nsaid Narsim, a party leader loyal to Soerjadi, the government-
\nrecognized PDI chief.<\/p>\n
Megawati Soekarnoputri, the charismatic PDI chief whom
\nSoerjadi ousted in a breakaway congress last year, remains
\npopular but is banned from contesting the poll.<\/p>\n
Megawati's loyalists have threatened to disrupt Soerjadi
