Pilgrims who were previously in Medina have now arrived in Mecca
ahead of the peak of the hajj pilgrimage in Arafah, Muzdalifah, and Mina
or Armuzna. The government has begun to centralize efforts to strengthen
services in Mecca to support pilgrims’ readiness for the core phase of
the hajj.

The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah spokesperson, Suci Annisa, claims that
until the 26th day of hajj operations, services for Indonesian pilgrims
have been running smoothly, orderly, and under control. The government
has begun to centralize efforts to strengthen services in Mecca to face
the peak phase of the hajj.

“All regular Indonesian pilgrims are now in Mecca. This is an
important phase because all service energy is starting to be focused on
ensuring that pilgrims are ready to face the peak of the hajj safely,
orderly, and comfortably,” said Suci in a press release, Sunday, May 17,
2026.

Armuzna is an acronym for Arafah, Muzdalifah, and Mina, three main
locations for carrying out the series of peak hajj rituals that take
place every year. The worship series in this area usually lasts for
several days, when pilgrims move from one location to another to carry
out the pillars and obligations of the hajj.

Based on the latest operational data, as many as 430 flight groups
with 166,269 pilgrims and 1,717 officers have been dispatched to Saudi
Arabia. Of that number, 418 groups with 161,591 pilgrims and 1,672
officers have arrived in Mecca. Meanwhile, the number of special hajj
pilgrims who have arrived in Saudi Arabia is recorded at 11,739
people.

Suci said that the completion of the transfer of pilgrims from Medina
to Mecca was also followed by the transfer of personnel to strengthen
services in Mecca and Armuzna. Strengthening is carried out on
transportation, accommodation, consumption, health, pilgrim protection,
to worship guidance.

“When all pilgrims are concentrated in Mecca, then service
strengthening is also centered in Mecca and Armuzna,” he said.

The Ministry of Hajj together with the Hajj Pilgrimage Organizing
Officers (PPIH) are currently finalizing preparations for Armuzna,
starting from finalizing manifest data, mapping pilgrim movements,
preparing buses and tents, distributing food, health services, to
mitigating protection for elderly, disabled and high-risk pilgrims.

The government also reminds pilgrims to maintain their health and
reduce activities outside the hotel ahead of Armuzna. On the other hand,
the Non-Procedural Hajj Prevention Task Force until May 15, 2026 has
thwarted the departure of 32 Indonesian citizens at Soekarno-Hatta
Airport who were suspected of wanting to perform the hajj without an
official visa.

Editor’s Choice: Hajj Can Also Be Smuggled.
