State Secretary (Mensesneg) Prasetyo Hadi has denied reports that\nbusinessman Andi Syamsuddin Arsyad, also known as Haji Isam, was\nappointed as coordinator for forest and land fire (karhutla) management.\nAccording to Prasetyo, the information is not true.<\/p>\n

The news regarding Haji Isam\u2019s appointment circulated on social\nmedia. In one post on X seen by detikcom on Sunday (23\/8\/2026), it was\nclaimed that President Prabowo Subianto had tasked Haji Isam with\nleading karhutla management.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is none. It does not exist. That is not true,\u201d said Prasetyo,\ndenying the information, when met at JCC, Jakarta, Sunday\n(23\/8\/2026).<\/p>\n

Prasetyo explained that the government has indeed invited various\nparties to help with karhutla management. However, he stressed that\nthere was no specific appointment of Haji Isam as coordinator.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat all parties are asked to help, yes. But to become coordinator,\nno, because the authority is not there,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) recorded the extent of\nkarhutla in Indonesia. Based on BNPB records, the total area of karhutla\nin Indonesia reached 72,798 hectares.<\/p>\n

Based on data presented by BNPB Deputy for Prevention Abdul Muhari,\nSunday (22\/8\/2026), the province with the largest karhutla area is West\nKalimantan (Kalbar) with 38,310 hectares. The number of personnel\ndeployed to extinguish fires in West Kalimantan totalled 10,010.<\/p>\n
