        "content": "<p>Palembang, VIVA \u2013 South Sumatra Regional Police have dismantled a\ncybercrime operation targeting the education sector. A syndicate hacking\ninto BOS (School Operational Assistance) funds belonging to SMA Negeri 2\nPrabumulih has been exposed, with total state losses nearly reaching Rp1\nbillion.<\/p>\n<p>The case was uncovered by the Directorate of Special Criminal\nInvestigation (Ditreskrimsus) of South Sumatra Police through its Cyber\nSubdirectorate. The perpetrators\u2019 actions involved breaching the\nschool\u2019s SIBOS website system and draining educational funds in two\nstages.<\/p>\n<p>The case originated from a report by the school in December 2025.\nInvestigators quickly moved to probe the matter and ultimately\napprehended the criminal network operating in Palembang and Ogan\nKomering Ilir Regency (OKI).<\/p>\n<p>From the investigation, the perpetrators first struck on 17 December\n2025, stealing BOS funds amounting to Rp344,802,770. The second attack\noccurred on 20 January 2026, with a value of Rp598,000,000 out of total\nincoming funds of Rp637,500,000.<\/p>\n<p>In total, the embezzled educational funds reached Rp942,802,770, or\nnearly Rp1 billion.<\/p>\n<p>Director of Special Criminal Investigation at South Sumatra Police,\nCommissioner of Police Doni Satrya Sembiring, revealed that the suspects\nused brute force methods to breach the security system.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe suspects conducted repeated and massive attempts to guess\nusernames and passwords until they successfully breached the SIBOS\nsystem. Once they gained access, the perpetrators immediately\ntransferred the educational funds to several prepared holding accounts,\u201d\nhe said on Thursday, 2 April 2026.<\/p>\n<p>He emphasised that they are still hunting for other individuals\ninvolved in the network.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are still pursuing two other perpetrators in this network who are\nnow listed as Wanted Persons (DPO). This case is a top priority because\nthey are robbing funds that should be used for the future education of\nour children,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>In the operation, police secured four suspects with varying roles,\nfrom the hacking executors to providers of holding accounts.<\/p>\n<p>A shocking fact emerged during the arrests: three of the four\nsuspects had just consumed crystal methamphetamine (sabu) narcotics.\nThis indicates that the proceeds from the crime were also used to fund\ndrug abuse.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, police seized several pieces of evidence, including one\nToyota Innova vehicle, one iPhone 17 Pro Max mobile phone, passbooks for\nholding accounts, and crystal methamphetamine narcotics along with its\nsmoking apparatus.<\/p>",
