        "content": "<p>House of Representatives (DPR) Commission III Chairman Habiburokhman\nhas emphasised that the process of discussing and drafting the Police\nLaw (UU Polri) was carried out by prioritising the principle of\nmeaningful public participation. \u201cIn the context of meaningful\nparticipation, this will certainly be questioned by our friends in\nconstituent areas. I would like to say that meaningful participation has\nbeen maximised at the drafting stage,\u201d said Habiburokhman during a\nplenary session at the DPR on Tuesday, 9 June 2026. In its drafting,\nHabiburokhman explained that 12 public hearing meetings (RDPU) were held\nwith various groups, ranging from students to experts. Additionally,\nCommission III also conducted visits to various regions to obtain views\nfrom academics and the public at a number of universities. \u201cCommission\nIII conducted visits to obtain input from the public and universities in\n12 provinces,\u201d said Habiburokhman. \u201cWe then invited 15 experts, 6\ncommunity groups, and 3 student groups; there were 16 legal experts who\nprovided input on efforts to reform the Police,\u201d he continued. He\nmentioned that the DPR Commission III had brought in 16 legal experts\nfor the drafting of the Police Bill. Habiburokhman stated that there\nwere 124 written submissions provided by the public to Commission III.\n\u201cFurthermore, during the deliberation after 25 May, we conducted 12 RDPU\nsessions to receive input from the public, 6 legal experts, 2 public\nhealth experts, and 3 student groups. The legal experts were not 6 but\n16, and there were 124 written submissions. Eventually, after intensive\ndeliberation, the Working Committee completed its task,\u201d said\nHabiburokhman.<\/p>",
