Jakarta \u2013 Chairman of Commission III of the Indonesian House of\nRepresentatives (DPR RI), Habiburokhman, has commended the West Java\nRegional Police (Polda Jabar) for successfully arresting Taufik Hidayat,\nthe perpetrator of the confinement, kidnapping, and torture of YTR (29)\nin the Cileunyi area, Bandung Regency, West Java. Habiburokhman assessed\nthat the police force acted swiftly in following up on the confinement\ncase.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs Chairman of Commission III DPR RI, I give the highest\nappreciation to the West Java Police Chief and all police ranks who\nmoved quickly, responsively, and tactically in arresting the suspect\nTaufik Hidayat, the perpetrator of the confinement and brutal abuse of a\nwoman in Bandung,\u201d Habiburokhman said in an official statement on\nWednesday, 24 June 2026. He added that the West Java Police demonstrated\ntheir commitment and proved that the state is present to protect all\ncitizens.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis swift action shows the strong commitment of the West Java\nPolice in providing a sense of security within the community, while also\nproving that the state is present and gives no room whatsoever for acts\nof violence against women,\u201d he said. According to him, the confinement\nand torture case carried out by Taufik Hidayat has disturbed the sense\nof humanity. He urged the police to impose the heaviest possible\npunishment on Taufik Hidayat.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis case carried out by Taufik Hidayat has deeply disturbed our\nsense of humanity. Therefore, I request and urge law enforcement\nofficials not to hesitate in ensnaring the perpetrator with layered\nlegal articles carrying the maximum penalty,\u201d Habiburokhman stated. \u201cWe\nmust use all available legal instruments, both the Criminal Code\nregarding confinement and aggravated assault, as well as the Sexual\nViolence Crime Law (UU TPKS) if such elements are found during the\ninvestigation,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n
The Gerindra Party politician explained that the maximum punishment\nfor Taufik Hidayat must be applied because it can provide a deterrent\neffect and serve as a warning to the entire community. Commission III\nDPR RI will continue to oversee the case of confinement and torture\nexperienced by the victim in the pursuit of justice.<\/p>\n
