Habibie to open seminar<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): State Minister for Research and Technology B.J.
\nHabibie will open a one-day seminar on product and professional
\nliability at the Horison Hotel in Bandung, West Java, on
\nThursday.<\/p>\n
The seminar, organized by the state-owned aircraft
\nmanufacturer PT Industri Pesawat Terbang Nusantara (IPTN) and The
\nBandung Lawyers, will be entitled: Coping with Product and
\nProfessional Liability towards Indonesia's Main Product and
\nService by the Year 2003.<\/p>\n
IPTN said in a statement here over the weekend that the
\nseminar will discuss various topics, including product liability
\nin the aviation industry, professional and product liability in
\nIndonesia, professional liability in the service sector and
\ninsurance.<\/p>\n
Product liability is the responsibility of producers over loss
\nexperienced by consumers of their products, while professional
\nliability is the responsibility of professionals over loss
\nexperienced by consumers or a third party from their service or
\nadvice.<\/p>\n
Knowledge of both issues are important for Indonesian
\nbusinesspeople and professionals in the anticipation of the free-
\nmarket era beginning in 2003, IPTN stated.<\/p>\n
Besides the keynote speaker Minister Habibie, speakers will
\ninclude Habibie's son, Ilham Akbar Habibie, who is the head of
\nIPTN's N-2130 aviation program, Komar Kantaatmadja, a professor
\nat Padjadjaran University's School of Law, Cahyana Achmad Jayani,
\npresident of PT Pos Indonesia, E. Saefullah, a professor at the
\nPadjadjaran University, and Djasiman, technics director of PT
