Habibie to answer summons in March<\/p>\n
JAKARTA: A lawyer representing B.J. Habibie revealed on Monday
\nthat the former president would answer the Attorney General's
\nOffice summons in March.<\/p>\n
Yan Djuanda Saputra told reporters at the Attorney General's
\nOffice on Monday that Habibie, who is now residing in Germany,
\nplans to visit Jakarta for four days from March 11 and expected
\nstate prosecutors to adjust the schedule for his questioning.<\/p>\n
Habibie was scheduled to report for questioning at the
\nAttorney General's Office on Monday but did not show up as he was
\naccompanying his wife who is undergoing medical treatment in
\nGermany.<\/p>\n
The Attorney General's Office is questioning Habibie as a
\nwitness in a 1999 corruption case involving former minister\/state
\nsecretary Akbar Tandjung and the State Logistics Agency (Bulog).<\/p>\n
Akbar, one of the suspects in the case, who is also chairman
\nof Golkar Party, revealed earlier that all policies regarding the
\nproject were in Habibie's hands.<\/p>\n
Attorney General's Office spokesman Barman Zahir said
\ninvestigators had not yet responded to Habibie's request. --JP<\/p>",
