Jakarta, VIVA \u2014 Activist Eggi Sudjana has revealed that the\nleadership of the Team for the Defence of Ulama and Activists (TPUA) has\nbeen frozen.<\/p>\n
Eggi said the freeze was carried out directly by Habib Rizieq Shihab,\nthe founder and patron of the TPUA organisation.<\/p>\n
Initially, Eggi explained, he and the secretary-general, Damai Hari\nLubis (DHL), were summoned by Habib Rizieq Shihab to his residence in\nPetamburan, Jakarta.<\/p>\n
\u201cOn Sunday, 15 February 2026, Prof Eggi Sudjana and DHL were called\nby Habib Rizieq to Petamburan III, where we met with him,\u201d he told\nreporters on Wednesday, 18 February 2026.<\/p>\n
During the meeting, Eggi said there were discussions regarding\ninternal turmoil within the TPUA organisation.<\/p>\n
Habib Rizieq then decided to freeze the TPUA leadership. Eggi, who\nhad previously served as TPUA chairman, said he accepted the decision\nwholeheartedly.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere were two issues \u2014 first, the turmoil within the TPUA. Second,\nas the founder and patron of the TPUA, Habib Rizieq has temporarily\nfrozen the TPUA leadership and withdrawn the mandate, so to speak,\u201d he\nsaid.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd I, together with DHL, willingly handed it over, as DHL is the\nsecretary-general under me,\u201d Eggi added.<\/p>\n
Eggi dismissed suggestions that he had been sacked by Habib Rizieq\nShihab, describing such claims as misleading.<\/p>\n
