        "content": "<p>The lawyer for former Minister of Religious Affairs Yaqut Cholil\nQoumas, Dodi S Abdulkadir, has spoken out regarding the change in his\nclient\u2019s detention status from KPK detention to house arrest. Yaqut was\ndetained by the KPK after being named a suspect in the alleged\ncorruption case involving the Hajj quota.<\/p>\n<p>Dodi stated that he was unaware of the specific reasons and\nconsiderations behind the KPK\u2019s approval of the family\u2019s request to\nswitch Gus Yaqut\u2019s detention. However, he assured that the process for\nchanging the detention has been carried out in accordance with\napplicable procedures.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOf course, the KPK knows best about the considerations for\ndetermining house arrest for Mr Yaqut. All procedures for the switch\nhave been fulfilled in accordance with the provisions,\u201d Dodi said when\ncontacted on Monday (23\/3).<\/p>\n<p>Dodi emphasised that his client will remain cooperative in undergoing\nthe legal process at the KPK. He said Gus Yaqut will respect and follow\nevery stage or legal process.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs a note, Mr Yaqut has always been cooperative and supports the\nKPK\u2019s law enforcement efforts. Gus Yaqut has consistently been\ncooperative and complied with legal provisions, including the legal\nprocess at the KPK, which is why the legal team is confident that Gus\nYaqut will carry out all assigned obligations,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n<p>Previously, the KPK provided an official explanation regarding the\nchange in Yaqut\u2019s detention status from KPK Detention Centre (Rutan) to\nhouse arrest. KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo emphasised that the switch\nin detention type is temporary.<\/p>\n<p>Budi explained that the investigators\u2019 decision took effect from\nThursday night (19\/3\/2026), following a request submitted by the family\nof the suspect in the alleged 2024 Hajj quota corruption case.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is true that the investigators have switched the detention type\nfor suspect YCQ to house arrest since last Thursday night. This switch\nwas based on a request from the family on 17 March 2026,\u201d Budi said in\nhis official statement to the media on Sunday (22\/3\/2026).<\/p>\n<p>Budi stated that the decision underwent a thorough legal review. The\nlegal basis used is Article 108 paragraphs (1) and (11) of Law Number 20\nof 2025 on the Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP).<\/p>\n<p>That article regulates the types of detention places and the\ninvestigators\u2019 authority to switch detention status based on certain\nconsiderations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe assure that the temporary detention switch process complies with\nthe provisions and procedures for investigation and detention of a\nsuspect,\u201d Budi said.<\/p>\n<p>Even while under house arrest, Budi assured that Yaqut remains under\nlegal authority monitoring.
