        "content": "<p>Jakarta \u2014 Yahya Cholil Staquf, commonly known as Gus Yahya, the\nchairman of Nahdlatul Ulama\u2019s Central Board (PBNU), has urged Indonesian\nPresident Prabowo Subianto to utilise the Board of Peace (BoP) to foster\npeace between the United States and Iran.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Yes, we will look for a way; utilise the BoP for that peace\nendeavour. Whatever we already have at hand, let us use it,\u2019 Gus Yahya\ntold reporters at the Presidential Palace complex in Central Jakarta on\nThursday, 5 March 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Gus Yahya said that at present there is no option other than to halt\nthe war. \u2018Because if not, nobody will be saved. The violence must end as\nsoon as possible by any means available,\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n<p>Therefore, he urged the government to seek opportunities to leverage\nIndonesia\u2019s BoP membership to realise peace. \u2018Let no one discard\nsomething merely because it appears weak; you know the way you use it\nmatters. We must use anything because the goal of peace is absolute,\u2019 he\nconcluded.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, former Foreign Minister Hassan Wirajuda said President\nPrabowo Subianto would evaluate Indonesia\u2019s membership in the Board of\nPeace following the escalation of conflict between the United\nStates-Israel and Iran. He made the remarks after a meeting with Prabowo\nand former president and vice president at Istana Merdeka, Central\nJakarta, on Tuesday night, 3 March 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Wirajuda noted that an evaluation of Indonesia\u2019s BoP membership was\nnecessary given the dynamic situation on the ground. The government\nwould consider several aspects, including funding commitments and\nIndonesia\u2019s troop deployments, which have long been described as among\nthe largest in the mission.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018The decision is not yet made. He will of course evaluate and take\nthe appropriate decision in due course,\u2019 Hassan told ANTARA on\nWednesday, 4 March 2026.<\/p>",
