General Chairman of the Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board (PBNU) KH\nYahya Cholil Staquf has expressed hope that the opening of the 2031\nCongress will again be attended by Prabowo Subianto. President Prabowo\nattended the 35th NU Congress in Jombang, East Java, today (27\/8).<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are delighted and grateful for the President\u2019s presence. In five\nyears we will hold another congress, the 36th Congress, in 2031. In my\nheart, I hope the next congress will be opened by Mr Prabowo again,\u201d\nsaid Gus Yahya before congress participants.<\/p>\n
In his speech, Gus Yahya also recalled the thinking of KH Hasyim\nAsy\u2019ari in the Muqaddimah Qanun Asasi regarding the importance of mutual\nassistance as the foundation of social life.<\/p>\n
\u201cHasyim Asy\u2019ari in the Muqaddimah Qanun Asasi said that mutual\nassistance is the foundation upon which the social order revolves,\u201d said\nGus Yahya.<\/p>\n
According to him, a society built on the spirit of mutual assistance\nwill not become trapped in questions of who holds power and who does\nnot. On the contrary, society will place greater emphasis on\ncooperation.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn this way, people think about cooperation, not about who holds the\nmost power. The 35th NU Congress is a momentum to strengthen that\nspirit. Therefore, it is very fitting that this congress is a moment for\nmutual assistance among one another,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
He stressed that congress participants will determine the direction\nof NU\u2019s leadership. However, that direction must continue to run in line\nwith the interests of the nation and state.<\/p>\n
