Gus Dur's administration<\/p>\n

We have been under President Abdurrahman \"Gus Dur\" Wahid's
\nadministration for one year or so. However, many circles have
\nviewed that the government has failed to comply with the peoples'
\naspirations.<\/p>\n
During his one year in office the President has reshuffled his
\ncabinet three times. According to Speaker of the House of
\nRepresentatives Akbar Tandjung, the President's actions have
\ndisturbed national stability and the performance of cabinet
\nministers. Akbar added that the cabinet reshuffles are an
\nindication that Gus Dur was not fully competent in forming his
\noriginal cabinet.<\/p>\n
The cabinet member from the Indonesian Democratic Party of
\nStruggle, Didi Supriyanto, is also of the opinion that the
\nreshuffles have not been effective in finding solutions to the
\nvarious problems facing the nation.<\/p>\n
Who is to blame? Non other than President Abdurrahman himself.
\nWhat then should we do about it?<\/p>\n
Many have felt that the President's actions have been
\nspontaneous, which were often controversial in nature and a cause
\nconfusion in the community. There was even an impression that the
\nPresident is engaged in trial and error techniques. This is
\nobvious given the fact that not a single policy taken so far by
\nthe government has succeeded in improving the bad condition of
\nthe state.<\/p>\n
