Yogyakarta (ANTARA) \u2014 The Gunungkidul Regency Government, together\nwith the Yogyakarta-Magelang Agricultural Development Polytechnic\n(Polbangtan YOMA), is following up on cooperation to develop young\nfarmer entrepreneurship through the Youth Entrepreneurship and\nEmployment Support Services (YESS-SI) programme for the 2027\u20132029\nperiod.<\/p>\n
Gunungkidul Regent Endah Subekti Kuntariningsih, speaking in\nGunungkidul on Tuesday, said Gunungkidul had been designated as one of\n15 selected regencies in Indonesia to implement the national YESS-SI\nprogramme, resulting from a collaboration between the Ministry of\nAgriculture and the Italy-based International Fund for Agricultural\nDevelopment (IFAD).<\/p>\n
\u201cOne of the aims of this programme is to expand employment and\nentrepreneurship opportunities for young people in rural areas,\u201d she\nsaid.<\/p>\n
She viewed the programme as a strategic opportunity to address the\nregency\u2019s unemployment challenges whilst at the same time accelerating\nfarmer regeneration.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe encourage young people to apply the principle of \u2018plant what you\neat, eat what you plant, sell what you plant, and plant what you sell\u2019,\u201d\nshe said.<\/p>\n
According to her, farmer regeneration and the reduction of\nunemployment are important to revolutionise the mindset of communities\nso they no longer depend on Direct Cash Assistance (BLT) or other\ngovernment aid programmes.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo that they are able to become self-reliant in managing the\nagricultural land potential they possess,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Endah instructed all departments within the Gunungkidul Regency\nGovernment to move quickly to align their programmes in preparation for\nthe implementation of YESS-SI, which is planned to begin next year.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis cross-sectoral synergy involves the Agriculture and Food\nService, the Trade and Manpower Service, the Industry and SME\nCooperatives Service, Bappeda, the Youth and Sports Service, and the\nEducation Service,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
The Gunungkidul Regency Government will also immediately process the\nformation of the regional institutional structure, namely the District\nCoordination Committee (DCC), chaired by the Head of Bappeda, and the\nDistrict Implementation Partnership (DIP), coordinated by the\nAgriculture and Food Service.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is a joint commitment to safeguard the success of the YESS-SI\nprogramme in realising Gunungkidul\u2019s young people who are self-reliant,\ncompetitive, and prosperous,\u201d said Endah.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the Director of Polbangtan YOMA, R. Hermawan, said the\nimplementation of the YESS-SI programme will be supported by four main\npillars: enhancing the capacity and competence of young people through\ntechnical guidance, skills training, and apprenticeships; and capital\nassistance in the form of competitive grants for young rural\nentrepreneurs.<\/p>\n
\u201cThen there is the development of commodity cluster ecosystems to\nguarantee sustainability and assured market access; as well as\nfacilitating access to finance and funding, including business proposal\nmentoring and the disbursement of People\u2019s Business Credit (KUR),\u201d he\nsaid.<\/p>\n
Hermawan mentioned several collaborative programmes already under way\nin Gunungkidul, including Impactful Internships at the Semin and Playen\nAgricultural Extension Centres (BPP) with the business and industrial\nworld, as well as the integration of learning and community service at\nBPP Patuk.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere is also mentoring for the Makmur Farmers Group in Nglipar\ntowards a Shallot Seed Self-Reliant Village in cooperation with Bank\nIndonesia; as well as integrated research across various kapanewon\nareas,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
