Gunawan needs psychiatric help: Lawyer<\/p>\n

Gunawan Santosa, 39, the alleged mastermind of the July 19
\nkilling of businessman Boedyharto Angsono and his bodyguard,
\nArmy's Special Forces (Kopassus) Second Sgt. Edy Siyep, was in a
\nstate of depression and needed psychiatric help, his lawyer said
\non Monday.<\/p>\n
"He is in a state of severe depression. I have recommended
\nthat the police investigators take him to a psychiatrist before
\nproceeding with the interrogation," Farhat Abbas, one of
\nGunawan's lawyers, told reporters on the sidelines of police
\nquestioning of Gunawan at the City Police Headquarters.<\/p>\n
Farhat said his client felt he was being terrorized and
\ntargeted by many parties. When asked what he meant by "many
\nparties," Farhat simply said, "It is public knowledge."<\/p>\n
A police investigator who is in charge of Gunawan's dossiers
\nrefused to comment on Gunawan's psychological condition.<\/p>\n
"Don't ask me. The authority (to answer questions) is in the
\nhands of my superiors," he told The Jakarta Post.<\/p>\n
During Monday's interrogation, Farhat said Gunawan was
\nconfronted by his plastic surgeon, known only as Dr. Affandy, who
\nhad operated on Gunawan's cheek, chin, and nose.<\/p>\n
"Gunawan has confirmed that it was the physician (who
\nperformed the plastic surgery)," said Farhat.<\/p>\n
Gunawan underwent plastic surgery to change his appearance to
\navoid police tracking. Upon his arrest, police seized from him
\nthree fake ID cards using the aliases of Indra Amapta, Dustin
\nBakrie and Kevin Martin.<\/p>\n
Gunawan is facing at least four charges: masterminding the
\nmurder attempt of PT Aneka Sakti Bakti's (Asaba) finance director
\nPaulus Tejakusuma, masterminding the murder of Asaba's president
\ndirector Boedyharto, using fake IDs, and evading the law.<\/p>\n
Also implicated in the murder charges were one military
\nofficer and three of his subordinates who allegedly carried out
\nthe fatal shooting at the parking lot of Sasana Krida sports
\nstadium in Penjaringan, North Jakarta, on July 19. They are
\nSecond Lt. SAS, Second Corp. SR, Second Corp. FH, and First Pvt.
\nSS, all members of the Marine Infantry Brigade 2 of Cilandak,
\nSouth Jakarta.<\/p>\n
The four suspects have been detained by the Marine Military
\nPolice since July 31.<\/p>\n
City Police Detectives chief Sr. Comr. Mathius Salempang said
\nearlier that police had sent investigators to the Marine Military
\nPolice to ask for the statements from the four soldiers.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, another member of the team of lawyers hired by
\nGunawan's family, said that police had named Gunawan's mother
\nMulyati Santosa, his older sister Sulistina and brother-in-law
\nAndre Basuki as suspects in the murder of Boedyharto and the
\nmurder attempt of Paulus.<\/p>\n
"They have been charged for their suspected roles in the
\nmurder," said Iwan Fahzizi, while showing reporters the warrants
\nfor their arrests, dated Aug. 13 and signed by North Jakarta
\nPolice Detectives chief Comr. Andap Budi Refianto.<\/p>\n
Mulyati reportedly told Sulistina to borrow Andre's motorcycle
\nto be used by one of the soldiers for the shootings in both
\ncases.<\/p>\n
However, City Police Detectives chief Sr. Comr. Mathius
\nSalempang denied the report, asserting that police had yet to
\nname any new suspects in the case.<\/p>",
