Gunawan is mentally sound, say police<\/p>\n

Gunawan Santosa, the prime suspect in the July 19 murders of
\nPT Aneka Sakti Bakti (Asaba) president director Boedyharto
\nAngsono and his bodyguard, is mentally fit, a police officer said
\non Friday.<\/p>\n
\"A psychiatrist tested him (Gunawan), and the psychiatrist
\ntold me that Gunawan is mentally fit and can give a statement to
\npolice investigators,\" Jakarta Police chief of detectives Sr.
\nComr. Mathius Salempang said city police headquarters.<\/p>\n
Salempang said police investigators did not believe the
\npsychiatric evaluation was necessary, but agreed to at the
\ninsistence of Gunawan's lawyer, Farhat Abbas.<\/p>\n
Farhat had said his client was suffering from depression and
\nrequired psychiatric care.<\/p>\n
Police want to question Gunawan about the murders of
\nBoedyharto and his bodyguard Second Sgt. Edy Siyep, a member of
\nthe Army's Special Forces, as well as the attempted murder of PT
\nAsaba finance director Paulus Tejakusuma on June 6.<\/p>\n
Also implicated in the case are four marines who are suspected
\nof carrying out the murders and attempted murder on Gunawan's
\norders.<\/p>\n
The marines, who have been detained by the Navy's Military
\nPolice since July 31, have been identified only as Second Lt.
\nSAS, Second Corp. SR, Second Corp. FH and First Pvt. SS. All four
\nare members of Marine Infantry Brigade 2 based in Cilandak.<\/p>\n
Navy chief Adm. Bernard Kent Sondakh said on Thursday Navy
\nofficials hoped to question Gunawan to cross-check the statements
\nof the four marines.<\/p>\n
Salempang said the police would make Gunawan available if he
\nwas needed to complete the dossiers on the marines.<\/p>\n
\"We have a good relationship with the Navy. We have no
\nproblems with that,\" Salempang said.<\/p>\n
In related development, Governor Sutiyoso said the subdistrict
\nheads of Gunung Sahari and Kemayoran in Central Jakarta and
\nPademangan in North Jakarta were not connected to the three
\ncounterfeit identity cards found on Gunawan at the time of his
\narrest.<\/p>\n
According to the governor, the signatures on the three IDs
\nwere not those of the subdistricts heads.<\/p>\n
\"The subdistricts heads were not involved in the process of
\nmaking the IDs. Gunawan counterfeited their signatures,\" Sutiyoso
\nsaid on Friday.<\/p>\n
The governor said on Thursday the three subdistrict heads had
\nbeen questioned about the counterfeit IDs.<\/p>\n
At the time of his arrest, Gunawan was carrying three ID cards
\nwith the names Kevin Martin, Indra Amapta and Dustin Bakrie.<\/p>",
